Activities: Market Operations and Technology (MOT) provides technology and market operations to Macquarie's businesses.
The Technology Division is responsible for the management of Macquarie's technology infrastructure, the support and development of existing business systems and the delivery and deployment of new systems, technologies and services. It comprises of business aligned teams which provide dedicated and specialist services to businesses as well as central teams which provide shared services, such as infrastructure, to multiple businesses.
Technology activities include:
- Managing Macquarie's technology infrastructure
- Supporting, maintaining and enhancing existing business systems
- Delivering and deploying new systems, technologies and services
- Ensuring all technical hardware and software is provided to all users
- Operating the IT Service Desk which provides IT support to all users
Macquarie Securities Group (MSG) encompasses Macquarie's institutional stock broking, equity derivatives and equity finance activities. MSG utilises its skills in research and risk management to develop equity-based financial solutions and services for clients globally. The Macquarie Securities IT division operates as a core part of the business, developing and supporting leading technology platforms which are critical to the group's success. The IT division is co-located with the business in a fast paced and changing environment. We currently have an excellent role for a support analyst to join the IT division based in New York.
In this role you will provide effective first and second level support for MSG Equity Research applications, both in-house and vendor-supplied. You will be part of the application support desk in NY; and collectively with other support desks in Sydney and Hong Kong, form a global 'follow the sun' model. You will escalate problems to and follow up with vendors based in the United States and the development teams based in Sydney, as required.
Key responsibilities will include:
- On-going support of all Research systems, including the data calculation engine, research distribution platform, CRM system, workflow engine, research websites, and custom built Microsoft Office add-ins,
- documenting processes and maintaining knowledge repository,
- resolving operational issues and implementing preventative measures,
- establishing strong relationships with the Research business and other technical stakeholders to discuss systems issues and changes,
- working with and assisting team members from other regions to resolve operational issues,
- assisting with weekend rollouts on a rostered basis (approximately every 2 months).
Ideally you will have:
- the ability to work well under pressure to provide timely and accurate solutions to systems problems,
- the desire to investigate the cause of problems and provide solutions to prevent re-occurrence,
- strong communication skills - both written and verbal,
- excellent problem solving abilities,
- a strong appreciation of key business drivers and an understanding of the IT impact upon the business,
- self-motivation and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
Technical requirements:
- University degree in engineering, computer science or equivalent
- Strong relational database experience (ideally MS SQL Server/Sybase)
- a solid understanding of either:
- Microsoft Visual Studio .NET, the .NET framework, C#.NET and ASP.NET; or
- Java, e.g. J2EE
Technical desirables:
- experience with Microsoft Office applications and VBA coding
- experience with Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 / 2008
