IT Programmer/Analyst Job in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania US
Business Application Analyst in a client / server and web environment. Core responsibilities include providing technical support / administration for Business Applications supported applications. Act as support resource to others within and outside of the group and department. Programming and custom report generation using Reporting Services, Visual Basic, ASP, .NET, SharePoint and other tools used by Reed Smith preferred Essential Functions
- Troubleshoot, analyze and fix problems related to Elite / Elite 3E, PeopleSoft (HCM), Microsoft Dynamics (CRM), Workflow, Time Entry, Data Warehouse, Financial reporting, Collection, Docketing, Intranet / Extranet and other software / applications supported by the Business Applications group.
- Perform database administration tasks including monitoring SQL Server database processes, database activity and performance.
- Use knowledge of SQL to perform various database related tasks / queries (data loads, maintenance tasks, updates).
- Assist with software upgrades and install system patches for Elite / Elite 3E, PeopleSoft (HCM), Microsoft Dynamics (CRM) and other software / applications supported by Business Applications team.
- Assist with the evaluation, testing and deployment of new software systems, development enhancements and technology related to Elite / Elite 3E, Microsoft Dynamics (CRM), PeopleSoft (HCM), Workflow, Time Entry, Data Warehouse, Financial Reporting, Collection, Intranet / Extranet and other software / applications supported by the Business Applications group.
- Provide off-hours and weekend "on call" technical support. Periodic travel and shift-work may be required.
- Assist with special projects as assigned by the Business Applications Senior Manager, IT Director of Application, Chief Information Officer, or Chief Financial Officer.
- Identify process improvements to PeopleSoft (HCM), Microsoft Dynamics (CRM) and internal systems/procedures and present to the Business Applications Senior Manager.
- May volunteer or be selected to serve on special committees, work groups, project teams, or escalation teams related to various Firmwide IT initiatives. Initiatives may be specific one-time events (e.g., research, testing, rollouts, upgrades, installations) or ongoing activities.
Requirements
Education:
Bachelor's degree in computer-related field or equivalent experience and training.
Experience:
Experience supporting users in a Workstation / Citrix environment. Familiar with Microsoft SQL Server and running queries using structured query language (SQL). Knowledge of applications such as PeopleSoft (HCM), Microsoft Dynamics (CRM), Elite 3E software experience is preferred. Working knowledge of People Tool, SQR and various PeopleSoft tools is a plus. Programming using ASP, .NET, and other web technology is a plus.
Skills:
Working knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server, Citrix, People Tool, SQR, Microsoft reporting services, ASP, .NET. Must be able to prioritize and organize workload, handle multiple projects in a deadline-driven environment, and perform well under pressure. Strong analytical, learning, interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills. Ability to work independently, as part of a team. Able to work effectively with all organizational levels. Personal computer and other office equipment such as telephone, typewriter, calculator, fax machine, duplicating machine and so on.
Typical Physical Demands:
Sitting, standing, bending, stooping, and reaching. Frequent lifting up to 20 pounds. Manual dexterity sufficient to operate standard office machines. Normal range of hearing and vision.

Able to deal with stress associated with fast-paced work environment. Multiple priorities/tasks. Make judgment decisions and adapt to changing work situations. Grasp and apply new ideas. Communicate with various personalities at all levels.
Working Conditions:
Works in a typical office setting. Occasionally called upon to work overtime.
