Aavalar Consulting has been engaged by a large/global client in the Philadelphia area to provide an information security analyst on a contract or contract to hire basis. The individual in this role will be responsible for monitoring key information systems for any susceptibility to hacking, and other unintentional compromise or loss of confidential data. Experience with penetration testing (ethical hackers) is also highly valued and would probably be quite helpful in this role. Once problems are dicovered, the individual in this role will head up the task of closing any potential security weaknesses.

What projects will the consultant be involved with?:
Ongoing analysis of Information systems to assure the integrity of strong security security systems. Lead in the alleviation of weaknesses and report known breaches in security.
Responsibilities:
• Assist with the development, and implementation of company wide standards, and procedures to assure data security and integrity.
• Help with scanning for information systems to find potential holes in security.
• Work with infrastructure architects to help design secure systems then provide support for those systems.
• Conduct penetration testing and other security assessments on our client's information systems.
• Constantly look for new tools which can be used to find and eliminate potential breaches in information security and keep the client's existing tools up to date by installing the latest patches, versions, etc.
• Keep detailed records of security breaches and steps taken to eliminate the risk.
Required Skills:
• Several years of Information Security related work experience
• Several years experience with Information Technology, with specific experience regarding operating system patching, vulnerability scanning, and/or intrusion detection systems.
• Ability to multi-task... You won't survive in this position if you can't juggle multiple tasks and priorities.
• Experience with security assessments, risk-based threat analysis, threat/penetration scanning, and security mitigation techniques
• Desktop and server hardware, software and operating systems experience including MS Windows as well as UNIX (Linux, Solaris, HPUX, etc.) especially related to security configuration
• Experience with / knowledge of latest greatest network technology, protocols, configurations, etc.
• Perfect communication skills are a must.
• Working knowledge of excel
Desired Skills:
• Financial services or highly regulated industry experience
• BS or MS in Comp. Sci.
• Security specific certifications. Examples: CISSP, MCSE
• Direct experience with vulnerability management programs is a plus
• Experience with MS/SQL Server, Access, etc.
