IT SERVER INFRASTRUCTURE SUPPORT CONSULTANT (Vancouver, BC)
In the role of IT Server Infrastructure Support Consultant you will use your broad knowledge of IT Infrastructure systems (Server OS, Desktop OS, Client devices, LAN technologies, WAN technologies and Remote Access technologies) to provide operational and technical support as well as act as part of project delivery teams to Sierra Systems clients.
- Act as 2nd/3rd level support desk to a number of clients
- Maintain, monitor, and support current and new deployments
- Perform periodic system audits to assure compliance and availability
- Support users at multiple remote locations utilizing remote assistant tools
- Maintain and manage backup environment
- Work with Corporate WAN personel or hardware vendors on hardware failures
- Track incidents through to resolution
- Produces KPI’s regarding fault calls and root cause analysis as to how these may be proactively reduced
- Carries out daily checks regarding backups, network, server, and application health
- Assist in the execution of documented policies and procedures
PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS EXPERIENCE
- More than 8 years experience in technical support role, including 5 years in a Systems Administration capacity.
- MCSE certification desired
- Windows 2003/2008 Active Directory experience
- Excellent knowledge of Windows 2000/2003/2008 server operating systems and related applications (Exchange, SQL, backup tools, Sharepoint, etc)
- Experience with VMWare
- Experience in the building, maintaining and troubleshooting of Windows workstations and servers
- Ability to troubleshoot/resolve issues with desktop/server hardware and software.
- Ability to work in a structured or unstructured team environment
- Experience troubleshooting TCP/IP
- Excellent written and oral communication skills coupled with good telephone skills
- Proven success in multi-tasking, strategic and analytical thinking, and planning skills.
- Consistently exercise initiative, discretion and independent judgement
