IT Support Analyst / Network Support – Leading Mayfair Hedge Fund
Introduction: Montash Associates have been engaged by a prestigious, highly profitable hedge fund to assist in the acquisition of an IT Support Analyst, who will work across a variety of functions, including Desktop and Networks.
The Organisation: This Global fund have offices in America, Europe and Asia, and run a variety of innovative and highly profitable strategies. Following some very strong years, this firm currently manages circa $10bn.
The Team: Reporting into the head of infrastructure, this team is currently four strong. The necessity to increase team size is born from implementation of a new set of strategies, and in turn an increase in the demands of the IT infrastructure.
The Project: A variety. This team works across a variety of functions and will be required to engage both tactical and more strategic support projects.
The Role: This individual will have the following duties:
- Provide generalist helpdesk support to all areas of the business particularly within network systems administration (LAN WAN)
- Responsible for desktop support and providing generalist technology infrastructure support to the business in a quick and efficient manner to mitigate disruption to business flow
- Provide network support activities as well as installation and on-going administration of operating systems and support services, meeting specific business and user needs
- Troubleshooting hardware and software problems
- Responding to queries from end users, including desktop support
- To support the business and its infrastructure (all production, development, test and DR environments)
- To action incident calls, problem calls and change management requests
- To provide systems administration of the following:
- servers, desktops and printers
- production and market data applications
- LAN WAN
- E-mail and messaging systems including, including blackberry enterprise server
- Anti-virus and security applications
- Internet access and firewalls
- Data storage, backups and restores
- Replication and support applications
- Communications infrastructure
- Manage IT projects as required in the above areas and any new systems as deemed necessary by the business
- To investigate, recommend and implement best practices for the infrastructure (hardware, software and comms) where possible
- To create and maintain documentation for the infrastructure systems (hardware, software and comms)
- Manage third party vendors and suppliers as per active support agreements and to escalate where necessary to provide effective support to the business
- To participate in and manage the Business Continuity and Disaster Recover tests annually
- Assist in the support of other Global offices from an infrastructure perspective

- Email / Messaging Systems
- Anti-Virus
- Internet
- Firewalls
- Data Storage
- Etc.
The Skills: Aside from the technologies mentioned above, the following are also requirements:
- Previous experience in a similar role gained within a hedge fund or financial company with similar infrastructure or with a 3rd party supplier servicing a small financial company
- Confident with MS Windows architecture in order to resolve issues rather than rely on 3rd parties
- Voice over IP experience (desirable but not essential)
- Highly Communicative
- Highly Collaborative
- Capable of dealing with a demanding set of users
