IT Support Manager Job in Brighton, Southern UK
To plan, manage, build, maintain and suppor the companies systems in a commercially effective and secure manner. To manage and support the IT Support Infrastructure team operating in a VMWare/Citrix/Microsoft environment.
Our client is the UK’s leading independent provider of medical advice to large corporates and the public sector. Based in Sussex, Birmingham, London, Manchester and client sites/home workers around the UK, the company has approximately 300 employees including Doctors and Nurses. The IT Support and Infrastructure team currently consists of 3 other staff members.
The company has a number of objectives, which are set out in their Values, Quality Policy and annual strategy plans. You should be familiar with each of these. Your role will impact on all of these in particular our objective for:

- Improving customer satisfaction
You will report monthly to the Operations Board on a set of KPI metrics to be agreed.
Competencies
Strong customer service skills.
Strong technical skills and proven track record, especially VMWare/Citrix/Microsoft/Dell PS Series Storage Arrays/HP Switches.
Strong management skills and ability to create and achieve team goals without supervision.
Ability to prioritise incoming workload effectively and plan forward based on collected metrics and business needs.
Ability to communicate effectively in plain English to all levels of staff, both verbally and in written format.
Working effectively within an Information Security Management System/ISO27001 environment.
Specific Responsibilities
Desktops
Supervising and improving the IT support function with a strong customer service focus.
Server/Network
Change Control, Risk Assessment and Vulnerability Monitoring.
Infrastructure planning, provisioning and management.
Maintaining and managing external connectivity.
Management and development of monitoring systems.
Management and maintenance of disaster contingency systems and backups.
Helpdesk
Prioritising and running the IT helpdesk covering all sites and employees.
Performing analysis on helpdesk statistics for continual improvement and forward resource planning.
Security
Applying and auditing IT related ISO27001 controls.
Maintaining IT security across HML in accordance with our Policies and ISO27001.
Documentation
ISO 27001 IT compliance and IT process documentation.
Maintain Asset Register and control equipment allocation.
Manage mobile devices/removable media.
Other
Specification, evaluation and implementation of hardware and software.
Liaising with suppliers, specifying and ordering services, maintaining supplier relationships.
Management of incoming bulk electronic medical records and the import process into our document management system.
Other Responsibilities
Supporting other technical hardware and software systems as required.
Supporting technical provision of new offices/clinics and internal office moves.
Liaising with clients IT departments as required.
Assist in developing departmental strategies.
Contingency Responsibilities for Head Office:
- Implement DR Plan as required
- Restore from backups as required
