Summary
Responsible for maintaining the local and wide area infrastructure including development, test and production servers, network operating systems, applications and connected hardware and peripherals. May participate in departmental and cross-departmental projects to contribute to implementation and operational decisions and tasks. May serve as a change lead on small System Operations-specific project efforts.
Job Description
- Monitors and maintains Line-of-Business (LOB) applications that depend on Microsoft-based services such as IIS and SQL in addition to the core operating system.
- Assists and supports Help Desk with escalation issues.
- Supports application teams and/or end-users by performing troubleshooting, diagnostics and evaluations to determine solutions and alternatives.
- Evaluates systems infrastructure performance and capacities and identifies problem areas or bottlenecks. Assists identifying and implementing solutions, software packages and tools to increase productivity.
- Administers file/print-servers and email systems including creation and maintenance of user accounts and security/email groups.
- Maintains, monitors and performs corporate and regional office backups.
- Monitors the successful completion of production jobs and batches for FTP, SQL and other scheduled tasks.
- Maintains and audits security systems, logs and procedures.
- Prepares systems infrastructure change management documentation according to Systems
- Operations standards.
- Adheres to Systems Operations policies and procedures regarding change configuration, problem and incident management service management functions.
- Available for some weekend and early morning or night work as well as primary/secondary on-call rotations as scheduled.
Requirements

- Bachelor's degree (B.A.) in Computer Science or related field from four-year college or university; or three years experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Self motivated, eager to learn and grow in the IT profession; desire to pursue professional certifications preferred.
- Familiar with fundamental networking/distributed computing environment concepts; ability to configure DNS, WINS, DHCP and Active Directory domains.
- Administration, support and operation of systems infrastructure experience required.
- Knowledge of Microsoft operating systems (2003, 2008, XP Pro/Vista) and Active Directory required.
- Microsoft back-office applications (SharePoint, IIS and SQL) experience preferred.
- CommVault Galaxy, Citrix Metaframe/Presentation Server, Microsoft Operations Manager and Exchange server experience preferred.
- System Administrator and User Training experience preferred.
- IT operational methodology and best practice (MOF, ITIL, MSF, etc.) experience preferred.
- Ability for independent problem-solving and self-direction.
- Demonstrates commitment to deliver outstanding customer service - both with internal and external customers.

- Advanced MS Word, Excel and Outlook skills.
- Intermediate database skills.
- Basic Accounting and Payroll skills.
- Intermediate Windows and Microsoft Server Operating Systems skills.
- Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) or Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA) preferred.
- The associate must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
- Occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and risk of electrical shock.
