IT Systems/Software (SW) Engineer to support the Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT) on the JRDC program located at Schriever AFB, CO.
- The IT Systems/Software (SW) will provide support for a MS Access Database upgrade/migration to SQL Server 2005/2008.
- Implement certification and accreditation (CA) requirements for specialized CND systems within the CERT, and document/maintain records for them.
- Coordinate with CND Analysts to manage and administer the updating of rules and signatures for specialized CND applications. Identify/resolve software conflicts, install/configure Windows application and database software, troubleshoot/resolve client-server and web application issues.
- Develop software tools and applications as directed.
- Coordinate efforts through CND Systems and Technology Team Lead with IT Services Role Based Administration (RBA) crews and vendor support personnel to resolve Incident Requests, Problems and Change Requests.
- Manage COTS, GOTS and other developed software applications.
- Research new technologies, evaluate products, write processes/documentation and perform training as needed.
- The Systems/Software (SW) (Windows and Red Hat Linux Servers and clients) will perform system administration on specialized Computer Network Defense (CND) applications and systems (e.g., ArcSight, Retina/Nessus, EnCase) to include installation, configuration, maintenance and backup/restore.
- Other duties will be assigned as required. Primary duty hours are 0800-1700 (Monday-Friday), but must be able to work after hours to support maintenance and may have to provide on-call support.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree and 5 years of experience in Information Technology with at least 3 years relevant work experience as a System Engineer working with Windows/Unix Operating Systems.
- Experience with MS SQL database installation, operation and troubleshooting. Experience maintaining web applications and databases.
- Essential qualifications include the ability to quickly adapt to new situations, a strong commitment to a team environment, a willingness to learn new technologies, the ability to de-conflict requests/requirements and to establish, maintain and follow documented processes and procedures.
- Candidate must possess or be able to obtain a DOD Top Secret security clearance.
- Candidate must possess a Security + certification or must obtain such certification within 6 months of being hired.
Preferred Requirements:
- Experience with several of the following a plus: Virtualization technology (VMWare), BMC Remedy, HTML, Perl, PowerShell and Javascript.
- Experience working with vendors to expedite installations and repairs to ensure maximum uptime.
