IT Technical Services Engineer (NOC) Tivoli Monitor - Operations Command Center, (Aurora, Co)
Summary:
Engineer Operations Center is responsible for leading, coordinating, and supporting efforts to optimize performance in a multiple architecture environment; drives operational excellence for the Operations Command Center while working closely with functional business delivery teams and the user community; works closely with architects, developers, and vendors to coordinate, execute, and support enterprise ADT applications and services; works with technical leads and architects to improve, refine, and maximize operational stability; other Operations duties as assigned.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Overall
- Apply knowledge of industry, product and functional best practices within the ITIL model.
- Serve as functional and process expert in all areas of IT Operations Command Center models; including batch processing, incident and problem management.
- Partner with all levels of IT and the corresponding business units to strengthen IT operation performance
- Integrate and schematically depict complete architecture for communications, topologies, hardware, software, and transmission
- Perform infrastructure incident and problem resolution and assist in the development and documentation of technical standards
- Monitor and perform systems tuning and make recommendations for improvements
- Understand the technical and business aspects of creating and/or modifying an effective strategic technology plan.
- Initiate change/improvement to the architecture as the business or technical requirements change.
- Advise senior management on issues as they pertain to larger organizational issues/business initiatives.
- Demonstrate broad experience and knowledge in application architecture for complex, cross-functional applications.
- Serve as a liaison between the business and IT to provide technical and business solutions that meet user needs.
- Translate business requirements to functional specifications for IT and manage changes to those specifications.
- Assist with the communication between the business unit(s) and IT from initial requirements to final implementation, as well as with business process redesign and documentation, as required, for new technology.
- Analyze and understand business operations' strengths and weaknesses to identify opportunities for automating processes and functions.
- Possess expert knowledge of the business unit(s) they are supporting, understand IT systems and capabilities, and has a basic understanding of technology trends in order to develop solutions for the business units supported that enhance the competitive edge of the enterprise.
- Researches, documents and analyzes data in support of business functions, process knowledge, and systems requirements.
- Responsible for proactively generating and compiling reports based on his or her findings, complete with recommended improvements to or new requirements for business processes and operational procedures.
- Apply proven communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills maximize the benefit of IT system investments and to assist in implementing new business process solutions.
- Assist in the planning, forecasting, implementation, and identification of resource requirements for moderately complex systems, as well as, in planning, architecture design, and engineering.
- Participate in the evaluation and implementation of third party software solutions
- Complete assigned complex and/or long-term engineering projects within budget and scheduled guidelines.
- Integrate and schematically depict complete architecture for communications, topologies, hardware, software, transmission, and signaling systems.
- Evaluate new products.
- Perform infrastructure problem resolution and assist in the development and documentation of technical standards and interface applications
- Monitor protocol compatibility and perform systems tuning and make recommendations for improvements.
- Assist in the planning, forecasting, implementation, and identification of resource requirements for moderately complex systems, as well as, in planning, architecture design, and engineering.

Education:
- Four (4) year degree or equivalent experience
Experience:
- 5 - 7 yrs
Skills:
- Demonstrates advanced knowledge of principles, concepts, and theories in own discipline, and has extensive knowledge of principles and concepts in other functions.
- Demonstrates advanced business knowledge and analyses the impact of emerging industry technology trends.
- Able to contribute to the strategic direction of the function.
- Understands the technical and business aspects of creating and/or modifying an effective strategic technology plan.
- ITIL V2/V3 Fundamentals
- Understanding of project management approaches, tools, and phases of the project lifecycle.
- 3-5 years experience with knowledge of IT monitoring technologies; familiar with IBM Tivoli v6.2, Microsoft SCOM, and SNMP preferred
Preferred:
- Knowledge of Remedy 7.6 application
- 3-5 years experience with Microsoft/UNIX/Linux operating system administration in a production application support environment.
- 3-5 years experience with Network system administration in a production application support environment
