SENIOR IT MANAGER

JOB DESCRIPTION:
We are currently seeking a Senior Manager to fill a role leading the Storage Services team. The candidate will report to the AVP of Storage Engineering, and will have a strong working relationship with Line of Business / ITS senior management. The successful candidate will have a breadth of IT and Business experience, and be comfortable overseeing a dynamic team of professionals. The individual also requires strong leadership qualities with proven experience.
JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Provide strong leadership, people management and coaching to team of 30 IT professionals
- Support a work environment that promotes customer service, quality, innovation and teamwork
- Work closely with Architecture and Business partners to understand their IT needs and lead a team to build, test, deliver and maintain solutions through their life cycle
- Understand test methodologies, and ensure teams are applying the right level of rigor to application changes
- Ensure Application / System availability and quality measures are achieved
- Ensure teams adhere to gating criteria, and changes are done without incident
- Report on project progress, currency, risks and issues
- Identify and implement process improvements that will improve quality, efficiency and reduce costs
- In partnership with others, support ongoing goals to reduce unit costs of services
REQUIREMENTS QUALIFICATIONS:
- Demonstrated leadership skills with a superior ability to make things happen through the use of impact and influencing skills
- Proven track record of delivering results ensuring operational, reputational, and proprietary risks are minimized
- Strong change management skills with demonstrated ability to act as a catalyst for change
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to work in a fast paced environment and manage multiple portfolios, deadlines, and competing priorities
- Strong customer orientation and a professional approach with the ability to interact with all levels within the organization
- Highly developed critical thinking, analytical and problem solving skills
- Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal)
- Previous People Management experience is required (5 years minimum), as well as experience managing managers
- Provide leadership to attract/retain high quality people, including appropriate employee communication, sound structure/processes, succession planning, etc.
- Promote and support an environment that encourages productivity, innovation, teamwork, and a high level of professionalism
- Manage appropriate recovery of costs to ensure effective cost management within own area and develop / manage budgets for IT related activities
- Continuously enhance knowledge/expertise in own area and keep current with industry and/or business trends
- Lead team in planning, preparing and executing effective test efforts, ensuring test process, methodologies and tools are appropriately applied
- Self motivated team player with high energy and ability to work independently as well as within a team
- Experience identifying and implementing process improvements
- Ability to turn strategy into practical solutions
- Knowledge of large scale IT environments: Mainframe, Distributed systems, and Networks
- Previous experience at a management level for large scale distributed storage environments
- Willing and able to manage staff in multiple locations
- College / University or equivalent work experience
