Position Description

Verizon IVR application developer is a customer facing, highly technical role which includes requirements gathering, designing/architecting scalable IVR Speech solutions, and leading Voice XML IVR/Speech application development. The consultant is expected to work in a fast paced environment independently as well as in a team structure.  Responsibilities of an IVR Application Developer include:  Perform discovery analysis to document the current customer environment and requirements; Interpret and analyze business requirements, design and implement new IVR/Speech solutions; Designs, develops, tests, and deploys end-to-end IVR/Speech solutions; Provide support to Verizon Business presales engineering team to develop effort estimates and custom IVR solutions.

Required Skills and Experience

6+ years of experience in developing IVR/Voice XML; 4+ years in speech application development including Voice User Interface (VUI) design, grammar development, tuning; 3+ years of experience in Genesys Voice Portal (GVP) – installation. Configuration, application development using Genesys Composer; 3+ years of experience in Nuance ASR – grammar development, tuning, testing; 5+ years of experience in a major software development framework: J2EE and/or .NET; Experience in developing Web Services; Demonstrate good client interaction skills and ability to interface with customer's technical staff regarding all phases of IVR/Speech project implementation, including hardware/software installation, development, and systems integration testing phases; Demonstrate strong software engineering skills in both an object-oriented and procedural environment and a working knowledge of design patterns; Ability to self manage in fast paced environment; Ability to lead and give technical direction; Ability to train and mentor junior engineers; Good oral/written communications skills to both technical and non-technical audiences; Ability to work on a team and lead a team of technical resources; Desire for continued technical growth; Requires a BS or Master's degree in Computer Sciences or related field; Willingness to travel up to 50%.

Desired Skills and Experience

GVP certification preferred; Nuance certified preferred; Experience in Cisco Voice Portal (CVP), Avaya Voice Portal (AVP) along with GVP is a plus; Experience in Genesys routing and reporting; Experience in relational database development is a plus.
