The core infrastructure team of what is widely regarded to be the world’s most prestigious investment bank need an all-round Java Rock Star to work on the technology that underpins the whole firm. They work on big, complex problems, core infrastructure and technology platforms that are crucial to the firm as a whole. This is enterprise level Java technology at its best - and the technical challenges are more varied and greater than any other team within the firm, and most within London.
Technical duties could include:
• Building core frameworks, APIs and Java libraries
• Constructing firmwide messaging and monitoring platforms
• Hacking/adapting/intergrating open source technologies
• Work on next generation virtualization and grid platforms.
Requirements:
• Very strong core Java SE
• Knowledge of areas such as multithreading, concurrency, synchronization, locking, data structures, algorithms, garbage collection, performance optimisations
• Knowledge of the wider Java stack – e.g. Spring, Hibernate, Java EE, UI, web technologies
• Strong knowledge of Unix and databases
The role will also look to incorporate the following, dependent on the successful candidate’s level experience (they may grow into some of the duties):
• Evangelising use of Java within the firm including presentations on new technologies
• Mentoring team members
• Liaising with external technology groups and forums
• Advising on technical direction for the bank
