Java Developer (Intermediate)
Our client (Financial Industry) in downtown Toronto is looking to add an additional full-time employee to the systems support team
Responsibilities
Part of the systems support team the intermediate java developer will maintain support Java based applications with Oracle Databases by, coding, testing and debugging computer programs as assigned and within target time frames. As a member of the Java Support team, handle day to day system issues and requests from application users.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities (*Essential Functions):
1. To improve and/or develop computer systems in order to meet users' needs by finding solutions, solving simple to moderately complex problems, making estimates concerning work to be done, programming, testing, debugging and documenting systems.
2. To take part in all phases of Production System Support to ensure timely completion of tasks by co-operating with and offering advice to users, by meeting deadlines and communicating status reports.
3. To apply the SDLC (System Development Life Cycle) development methodology adopted by the Corporation to ensure that established standards are met.
4. To provide on-call support for production systems to guarantee their functionality.
5. To make sure that systems are optimal and meet the quality standards of the business area by making analyses, suggestions and developing assessments.
6. To make recommendations in order to participate in improving development and system maintenance processes.
To apply appropriate programming techniques to ensure data are fine tuned and valid and to facilitate maintenance in preparation for changes and improvements so that resources are used efficiently.
Qualifications
Level of Education: Bachelor's degree or Diploma
Certification Required for the Position: Computer Sciences
Years of Experience: 5-7 years of programming with Java, Websphere
Rich Faces
DB2 is a nice to have
PL/SQL Oracle.
