We are working on an incredibly well paid Java development position within an exceptionally strong systematic trading firm. They have office in NYC and London and have a reputation for hiring some of the smartest technologist around. They tend to pick reasonable inexperienced professionals that are looking to be stretched and given responsibility quickly. This fund manages money across all the major asset types and their holding period ranges from mid to high frequency. The Technology stack is predominantly Java although they use a raft of other things too. The other encouraging thing about this place other than their trading returns is that they promote a work life balance too and have often hired many folk that otherwise have opted to apply for positions with social media labs / software houses and the like…
• Exceptional undergraduate degree from top university in computer Science/Engineering (ideally). Strong A-level results (or equivalent) are also important.
• Technology is Java although they will consider candidates from a C++ background assuming they are happy to make the switch to Java.
• Knowledge of multithreading, socket level programming, core algorithms and data structures.
• Prior experience within finance is NOT essential. They are looking for deeply technical individuals from any hi-tech backgrounds such as Telecoms, Gaming, and Industrial Research/Social Media Labs etc.
