JAVA Developer
As part of the User Experience team, the Front-end Developer (FED) will provide direction for the future development of all front-end technologies (CSS2/3, HTML5/XHTML, DOM, JavaScript, JSP Tiles and SpringMVC/WORKFLOW views, etc.). Since this position has not existed previously, it is essential to have a flexible attitude and excellent communication skills. This person will work closely with business analysts, project managers, UX Leads, graphic designers, and J2EE developers/tech leads to deliver a new front end technology. This person will be responsible for establishing and executing the User Experience Front End Technology vision, industry best practices and standards for user interface (UI) development. Key job duties are: -Contributing to a culture of innovation and teamwork -Pushing the boundaries of what's possible to create better experiences for our users -Leading technical solutions throughout the entire product lifecycle, from initial explorations through final design deliverables such as screen layouts, user interface elements, and prototypes - Translating usability and field research findings into design/function improvements -Communicating technology strategy and rationale to key stakeholders and project members -Collaborating with other Publishing teams to develop cross-product solutions -Documentation of aa.com front end technology standards and procedures -Producing and delivering final assets using HTML5, CSS3 and Javascript frameworks (jQuery, etc.) -Develop mobile technical solutions for HTML5 web application(s) Skill sets: -Javascript coding of jQuery plugins -JSP Tiles understanding -Spring MVC Nice to have: - Markup coding by hand, specifically HTML5 - CSS3, SASS/SCSS/LESS/COMPASS knowledge and practices - Workflow/Mobile experience - Responsive design understanding - HTML5 web apps - Java templating engines such as Freemarker, Thymeleaf, etc.
