Java Developer / Software Engineer
The Company
Robert Half Technology is working with this leading global brokerage to identify a talented Java Developer to embed themselves into the Post Trade business, and to leverage CEP TIBCO to produce elegant, clean code that provides the business and their external clients with a leading solution. The organisation have a truly global footprint, and trade across a wide range of OTC and exchange listed cash and derivatives markets for fixed income, equities, financials, and commodities. The company are an industry leader, profitable, employ over 2,000 people.
The Role
This Java Developer / Software Engineer position will sit within the London Development Team, a group of 10 permanent staff, involved with all aspects of post-trade systems and intra-system messaging, transformation, and communication. This is a new hire to cope with increased workload a wide range of solutions the team are required to cover. The position would ideally be filled by a candidate with multiple years hands on core Java development experience with a demonstrable track record of producing solutions. Hands-on experience of TIBCO ESB/SOA toolkit, esp. Business Works (v5.4 or later) or hands-on experiencing of developing Complex Event Processing (CEP) solutions (Aleri CEP background, v3.1.10 or later) would be a very good fit. A working knowledge of basic SQL (specifically Oracle flavour) would be considered an advantage, but not essential.
Candidates must have strong, hands-on core Java development experience, and have knowledge of or be willing to work extensively with TIBCO and/or Complex Event Processing (CEP) technology. Preference will be given to those coming form a financial services background, with exposure to Risk Management earning extra recognition, though neither is an absolute requirement if the core technical skills are good. The team need a flexible professional accustomed to the full development lifecycle, that is willing to get involved from analysis to post implementation support of solutions. The team do their own analysis design, and time is split between working with business users other technologists.
Candidates must be comfortable working on multiple projects simultaneously. They should slot seamlessly into a small team of high performing professionals and have a real talent for development of quality software and technology in general. Communications skills and style are also absolutely critical in this role - the successful Java Developer / Software Engineer will be a confident and articulate professional that is comfortable/confident interfacing directly with (non technical) end users, up to management level. This role will require a Java Developer / Software Engineer that is prepared to get involved in investigating production issues alongside their development role; has a strong logical approach to problem-solving and is able to demonstrate ongoing improvements to existing solutions; and who is able to develop, alone or in small teams (2-3 people), solutions to new requirements/problems, both tactical and strategic in nature.
Salary Benefits
£45,000-£55,000/Annum + Bonus Benefits
