Java FX front office desk developer recruitment

Java FX front office desk developer
£50,000 – £90,000 basic plus benefits plus bonus
Core Java, multicast, threading, sockets, concurrency, memory management, C++

Domain: Investment banking

This tier 1 investment bank is looking for a core Java developer to join a new team within their front office FX offering and build a suite of low latency applications for use by the traders in the front office.

This is a new team the hiring manager is putting together and all development is going to be greenfield as they seek to build a set of market leading etrading systems, including but not exclusively limited to VWAP, DMA and Algo XN components. This is a desk developer role, so the successful candidate will be working very closely with the traders and front office sales staff every day.

The ideal candidate will have a comprehensive understanding of the interplay between hardware and software, messaging (socket APIs including NIO), handling primitive objects and building low pause GC optimised applications. This is low low level Java, perhaps closer to something Bjarne Stroustrup would recognise than the average out-of-the-box Weblogic developer would.
