Java/ Oracle Software Developer recruitment

Bloomberg's RD Data Acquisition programming team is seeking a Java Oracle developer with proven experience in designing and building multi-tiered applications to join the team.

This developer will be involved in the full system lifecycle including, participating in system design, hands-on development, testing and production support. The RD Data Acquisition programming team builds widely distributed customised applications and workflow solutions to our internal data analysts to efficiently and accurately automate the acquisition and entry of financial data across the Bloomberg Professional service.

The Research and Development division of Bloomberg is responsible for creating and maintaining all functions within the Bloomberg Professional service which is used by our clients in the Finance industry. The Bloomberg Professional service is a large scale distributed financial information system comprising - Trading functions, Market analysis, Live data and News. All our developers will have direct impact on our products available to the finance industry across the globe.

Requirements

* Strong Core Java Skills: Standard data structures, Serialization, Threading NIO, concurrency package, class loader, JIT compilers, optimizations
* Strong Oracle (9i/10i) database skills including PLSQL, procedures, functions, triggers, packages. Performance tuning.
* Knowledge of the J2EE framework
* Strong object oriented analysis and design skills
* Experience developing multi-threaded applications
* Design Patterns and enterprise integration patterns
* Experience with using Unix
* Experience with SCM, ideally Git.
* Strong troubleshooting skills
* Team player and the ability to communicate effectively

Other desirable skills include:
* IBM MQ messaging
* Unix Programming Skills and Admin Skills: Shell Scripts, Perl, awk, sed
* experience developing distributed, high-performance multi-tiered applications
* Familiarity with relational database modelling, Erwin.
* experience in C/C++ Development
* experience with C#, .Net Framework, and Winforms development
