Java Programmer for start-up hedge fund – must have good Linux skills recruitment

Excellent opportunity for an experienced Java developer to join a start-up hedge fund focused entirely on computerised trading.  The firm has been trading for 18 months and has had very positive returns so far, which has lead to a requirement to hire someone to help in the implementation of new trading strtagies into their technical framework.

Trading strategies are based on a series of algorithms which analyse large amounts of historical data relating to securities markets and then make investment and decisions automatically and in real or near-real time.  These trading algorithms are researched and developed by the founders of the firm and are based on sophisticated statistical techniques which have been developed from many years working within the financial industry.  Algorithms are implemented in Java on Linux.

The business is dependent on the ongoing research of new trading strategies/alogorithms as well refinement of existing profitable strategies.  To increase the efficiency of this effort, the requirement for the Engineer / Programmer exists.

The successful candidate will work closely with the partners to turn trading ideas into production code as well as monitoring efficiency and making improvements to existing strategies – not just from a technology perspective – but also refining the business logic.
Required skills: Java (Core / Open), Spring / Hibernate, Linux (Engineering, Perl, Python, Ksh, Bsh etc).  Financial markets is not required.
