The client is a medical devices company working to develop the world’s first integrated hematology instrument, which combines a digital image-based cell locator, a cell classifier, and a cell counter with its own slide maker and stainer. The Senior Software Engineer is responsible for supporting the development of the product. This position reports to the Director, Software Development and is located in Boston, MA.  Although experience with medical devices is a plus, this is also an opportunity for an experienced Java and Swing professional to transition into medical devices.  

Summary of Essential Job Functions

•             Design and build user interface components within an MVC architecture for the Bloodhound Viewing Station

•             Accurately estimate task size

•             Interface with members of the development and QA team        

Minimum Requirements

•             Five years of Java, with a minimum of three recent years developing user interfaces with Swing

•             Detailed knowledge of Swing components and models (JTable, JList, etc.)

•             Detailed knowledge of Swing layout managers

•             Model/View/Controller design and implementation experience

•             Graphical User Interface design and implementation experience

•             Ability to work effectively from both detailed and loosely-defined specifications

•             Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or ten plus years of relevant experience              

Additional Skills

•             Detailed Knowledge of Swing's Pluggable Look and Feel

•             Skilled with Graphics Editors (Inkscape, CorelDraw, etc.)

•             Medical device development with conformance to IEC 62304 and ISO 14971

•             XML, WSDL
