OVERVIEW
We are seeking a Linux and VMware administrator with at least 4 years of experience within a production and customer testing environments for a company with a 24X7 Hosted Applications services data center utilizing multiple Unix based operating systems with emphasis on Redhat and CentOS with some knowledge of Kerberos, LDAP, and TOMCAT knowledge in a high availability configuration running on multiple Virtualized servers.

REQUIRED
- 4+ years experience in a large datacenter environment
- Strong proficiency of Linux/Unix systems, with preference to CentOS and RedHat
- Knowledge of programming/Scripting languages (such as PERL, SH, KSH)
- Knowledge of DNS, LDAP, NTP, Sendmail, (Preference towards strongmail)
- Knowledge of Apache and TOMCAT
- Exposure to Kerberos
- Experience in a Multi-datacenter Enterprise environment
- Knowledge of server hardware and software systems; installation and configuration of software and networks.
- Analytical skills necessary to ensure assignments are implemented in a clear, controlled, anticipated fashion.
- Ability to learn about procedures and technologies for systems and applications and to apply new knowledge in tasks as assigned
- Work effectively with all levels of company staff.

PREFERED
- Exposure to Configuration management tools such as CFengine and Subversion, Spacewalk and Kickstart
- Certifications in RedHat, networking, or MCSE preferred

RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential Functions:
- Strong lead and team member in Linux, install, administer and support production servers in multiple project capacity
- Strong understanding of TCP/IP ports and protocols and how they interact with application components
- Manage and maintain Nagios monitoring solution and support incident response
- Ensure the development and enforcement of server configurations and operating standards through tools such as CFengine and Subversion
- Support application components in a Linux RedHat/CentOS/Solaris hosted environment with specific focus on JBOSS and Java based solutions
- Within our Environment team and Systems Operations Center, monitor production systems and resolve issues
- Interact with primarily other Systems Engineers and other Engineering teams to exchange issues, obtain technical approaches and understand new methods and standards.
- Strong independent decision making; makes recommendations; take action; performs work under minimal supervision.

Secondary Functions:
- Experience in systems monitoring applications. Knowledge of Cacti, Nagios, MOM, and SCOM desired
- ability to multi-task and manage work loads in a 24x7 environment
