Jr. Software Engineer: Ruby
We are a small entrepreneurial group within a large insurance industry software company. We are looking for entrepreneurial Ruby on Rails developers to help us continue to build two web-based products that are transforming a segment of the insurance industry.

Major Activities:
Performs product design, bug verification, release testing, and beta support on applications software projects which may require research and analysis. Operates under moderate supervision.
Software Engineer position responsibilities include:
- Ruby on Rails, Javascript, CSS, XML, RESTful web services
- Multi-browser commercial web application development
- Performs product design, system analysis, and programming activities on web application software which may require some research
- Conducts the unit testing and integration testing for functionality and limits
- Performs somewhat complex bug verification, release testing and beta support for assigned products. Researches problems discovered by QA or product support.
- Develops solutions to problems.
- Researches and understands the marketing requirements for a product, including target environment, performance criteria and competitive issues.
Who are you?
- You are either an expert or want to be an expert with Ruby On Rails software development. You understand relational databases and have worked with MySQL, Postgres, or Microsoft SQL Server. You know Javascript, CSS, XML, XSLT, and RESTful web services.
- You've worked on a scrum team and know how to write unit tests. You have delivered a commercial web-based product or you're willing to learn how to do it quickly.
- You enjoy working on small teams and you know how to quickly get things done without someone holding your hand and guiding you step by step
- You're excited about working on an application that customers want to buy because it makes their business more efficient.
- You like the idea of being on a small and flexible startup like team with the stability and benefits of a large and profitable software company.
- You're not afraid of working on software that is critical to the operation of a customer's business.
- Bonus points if you also have an eye for design and you know how to make easy to use web 2.0 interfaces.
- You have 1-4 years of technical experience
Education Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in software engineering, computer science, or equivalent experience
Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States to be eligible for consideration, visa sponsorship not available. Candidates with at least 18 months left on your EAD may be considered.
