Junior Buyer Job in Houston, Texas US
Junior Buyer will negotiate and procure materials and services. Additional responsibilities include processing Purchase Requisitions into Request for Quotes and Purchase Orders in accordance with Company policy and procedures and proactively seek and evaluate prospective suppliers both domestically and internationally.
Essential Functions
1. Reviews Purchase Requisitions, Requests for Quotes and Purchase Orders for accuracy and conformance with established policies and procedures.
2. Obtains formal quotations from vendors. Documents and evaluates competitive bidding.
3. Expedites purchase orders. Notifies departments of the expected delivery date and follows up on back orders.
4. Maintains complete and accurate files.
5. Communicates clearly and on a timely basis with all stakeholders
6. Utilizes vendor sources as appropriate to fill business needs as required.
7. Monitors vendor performance and regularly meets with vendors to deliver feedback and discuss performance level.
8. Participates in new vendor evaluations through interaction with other company disciplines to determine suitability.
9. Facilitates strong inter-departmental relationships to ensure Operations and Technical Services are provided the highest level of service.
Minimum Education and Skill Requirements 1. 3-5 years of related experience. 2. Professional Certification is a plus. 3. Previous purchasing experience with a oilfield equipment manufacturer, specifically with heavy fabrication experience. Related oilfield purchasing experience may be considered. 4. Experience with Mass200 or equivalent electronic procurement system is desired. 5. Comfortable with computer word processing, order and inventory forms, and spreadsheets. 6. Ability to communicate effectively. 7. Ability to work cooperatively as a member of the supply chain team. 8. Well organized and able to carry out assignments with moderate supervision.
