Junior Financial Controller
Job Description
We are looking for an exceptional candidate to manage the group’s fund accounting activities as well as playing a key role bridging the gap between Finance and the Investor Relations team. He/She will report directly to the CFO in this senior and responsible role and will be on a structured development towards being Financial Controller from day 1 in the business. This is a rare opportunity for a talented individual to join a growing high profile fund management company and be involved in the accounting, administrative, tax and legal aspects of alternative asset funds.
Key tasks and responsibilities
Supporting, reviewing, and monitoring the output and performance of external administrators and advisors, including:
- Ensuring appropriate books and records are maintained
- Reviewing the production of financial statements for the funds and completing the annual audit
- Tax reporting obligations
- Liaising with and providing key input to the Investor Relations process
- Providing strategic input around new fund and deal structures
Key Skills/experience
Essential
- Qualified Accountant (ACA/ACCA)
- Strong technical accounting/audit background (UK GAAP and IFRS)
- Prior experience of Private Equity fund accounting, audit and related roles, gained in-house, or within a specialist team of a Big Four firm.
- Ability to deliver a strong, ‘no surprises’ financial control environment
Advantageous
- Working knowledge of the tax and legal issues involved in Limited Partnership funds
- Broad experience of the financial services industry and financial instruments
- Competent using MS Office
- Commercial awareness

This role will ideally suit a qualified accountant that is working in one of the following fields: Private Equity Audit, Third Party Private Equity Administration, or an in PE Fund Accounting role. Candidates must be able to show the desire, commercial awareness and aptitude to work in a small company with a collegiate atmosphere and will be focussed on developing from a senior accountant to assume the responsibility of the group's Financial Controller role.
