Junior Hedge Fund Operations Executive (listed derivatives, primarily index futures / options)
The Opportunity:
- This is a broad role working for an exciting and entrepreneurial financial services business located in the City of London
- The company has a broad offering, including a market making business, along with a hedge fund with that recently launched
- Within this role you will be primarily focused on operationally supporting the trading function of the hedge fund
- The fund invests in listed derivatives (primarily index futures and options) and foreign exchange markets, and, the investment approach is primarily quantitative and systematic in nature
- You will be supporting a senior Middle Office professional, covering a broad range of operational responsibilities and you will be a key member in establishing and developing a high quality operations infrastructure
- As in all small businesses, improving the scalability of the operational platform through increased automation of processes as well as the outsourcing of tasks to external vendors will be a key requirement and one that you will be involved with
More detailed duties will include (and not limited to):
- Providing dedicated operational support to the business
- Daily reconciliations of internal system to clearers / exchanges / prime brokers
- Trade / cash recs
- Investigation of failed trades
- Control role – ensuring accurate NAVs
- Assisting with system automation / improvements / testing
- Review and maintenance of internal policies and procedures
N.B. This is not a role to become a fund manager or Trader
Your Experience:
- You will have a record of academic achievement and possess a real "can-do" attitude
- Be able to work on your own, as well as part of a broader team
- You must have some experience of working within an asset management firm within an operational role - this is a junior role and you will have 18 mths or so buy-side operations experience with an appreciation of how a NAV is cut
- First hand knowledge of working within a fund that trades listed derivatives would be hugely advantageous – i.e. a CTA fund
- You will possess strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Be proficient in MS Office, especially Excel
