The Investment Specialist Team adds value to their respective business unit most effectively by:

Minimising the amount of time that portfolio managers spend away on non-investment tasks;

Acting internally and externally as a proxy for the investment team they represent on technical, investment-related matters such as investment philosophy, process, decisions as well as performance;

Servicing existing clients to the highest standards,

Monetising performance by capturing investment flows;

Educating internal and external clients.

Each investment specialist has direct, primary experience of our firm’s investment process.  Each is embedded within an investment team and possesses up-to-date knowledge on portfolios and strategy.

Job Purpose:

We are actively seeking for a Junior Investment Specialist to join our expanding Investment Specialist Team and help cover our firm’s US equities capabilities.

The role of the Junior Investment Specialist will be initially to assist Senior Investment Specialists.  The successful candidate will be primarily attached to the firm’s US equity team and expected to develop over time a thorough understanding of the firm’s capabilities in US equities.   The successful candidate will be expected to participate in investment and strategy meetings with the team’s portfolio managers.

Key Tasks:

Primary responsibilities will include assisting Senior Investment Specialists and Portfolio Managers with:

Preparing for their sales marketing activities, including updating/drafting presentations and other marketing materials or account reviews;

Reporting obligations, including writing performance reviews, strategy commentaries and outlook;

Preparing for client meetings;

Solving client’s issues which arise in the course of a business relationship by liaising with the relevant departments (client service; legal; operations; compliance; marketing; performance, etc..

Supervising the timely editing and finalising of answers to requests for proposal/information;

Maintaining a desk MIS;

The successful candidate will also be expected to develop over time a thorough understanding of the firm’s US equities team strategies, process and of individual portfolio decisions.

Experience:

Ideally, the candidate will have a minimum of 2-3 years experience in a similar role.  Candidates with relevant experience in client servicing / business development within the asset management industry or with experience in investment management (investment assistant; etc..) are also invited to apply.

A good understanding of the ‘buy-side’ financial services industry is preferable

Qualifications:

Advanced university degree

CFA designation preferred or, at least, evidence of progress toward it
