The Company
Our Client, a leading European Reinsurer is seeking a Junior National Catastrophe Specialist.

The Role
The Junior Nat Cat Specialist will support the property treaty underwriting team in analyzing and modeling the nat cat exposure of client portfolios in Southeast Asia and India. He/she will also support the development of probabilistic and deterministic nat cat models for major and secondary perils in the region. Internally, he/she will work closely with property underwriters, client managers, business development and the global partnerships team to develop costumised solutions for the clients to cover their nat cat risk. Externally, he/she will liaise with local universities and research institutes to get access to data and the latest research findings.

You will be embedded in a team of 20 members, located in Beijing, Singapore, Sydney and Tokyo which covers a wide range of natural science, engineering and actuarial disciplines. You will also work closely with natural catastrophe specialists based in Zurich and Bangalore (0%).

Your Profile
You must have a degree in Mathematics, Physics, Natural Sciences or Engineering and have Strong analytical skills and financial market knowledge. Strong programming skills preferably in Matlab, Mathematica, R, C++ or similar. Excellent Microsoft office skills (Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Word). Ability to handle large data sets and apply data mining techniques. Experience in probabilistic natural hazards modeling is a plus. Preferably 1-3 years of experience in the re/insurance or the financial services industry.
