As our practice is rapidly expanding, we are seeking (Junior) Practice Specialists in Energy Risk/Commodity Modeling to join us at (preferably) our Frankfurt am Main location:
(Junior) Practice Specialist – Energy Risk/Commodity Modeling
Your role:
(Junior) Practice Specialists in our Risk Management Practice are dedicated to working with client teams to solve business-related problems of a (primarily) quantitative nature. Specialists support our clients by conducting state-of-the-art quantitative analyses across the energy and commodity risk and trading spectrum. Activities include tool building, implementation, and maintenance.
The (Junior) Practice Specialist role encompasses three broad sets of responsibilities:
- Client service support and development: Works at client location as part of a consulting team in order to conduct comprehensive quantitative analyses to be used as a basis for implementing risk-based decision frameworks or for making strategic decisions
- Knowledge development: Advances McKinsey's overall knowledge base by providing rigorous analysis and problem solving for our proprietary knowledge investments. At more senior levels, he/she also focuses on developing new analytical approaches and techniques
- Knowledge transfer and practice development: Operates as part of a firm-wide community. Works with a global network of colleagues in order to codify existing knowledge and develop new knowledge.
Your profile:
- Strong academic qualifications, with an advanced degree in a quantitative discipline (statistics, mathematics, or physics)
- At least three years (one to three years for a Junior Practice Specialist) of work experience in analytical areas oriented toward energy/commodity risk management, market dynamics, or trading, as well as/or a PhD
- Exceptional ability in working with numbers and statistics as well as significant experience with analytic/ software (e.g., MATLAB, R) and SGL databases
- Strong multitasking abilities, flexibility, and patience for working in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent written and verbal English and German communication skills
- A team player, with a professional and service-oriented attitude
- Willingness to travel
