About the position:
We are currently looking for a suitable candidate to join as a Junior Research Analyst within the Templeton Global Equity Group. This position provides on-the-job training combined with mentoring from our Melbourne based Portfolio Manager and Research Analyst. Participation in the Junior Analyst Program allows the Junior Analyst to develop the skills required for a Research Analyst role.
The following skills and responsibilities will be developed by Program participants:
- Perform thorough fundamental analysis of a company’s business and financial position by interpreting financial statements, broker reports and other pertinent sources of information.
- Conduct independent research by traveling to visit with company management, competitors, customers and other industry contacts.
- Compile data from multiple sources and develop detailed financial models on assigned companies.
- Provide written and verbal presentations of investment conclusions/recommendations to the team.
- Maintain general knowledge of the global investment climate and economic environment.
Qualifications:
- Undergraduate degree required.
- MBA and/or CFA preferred (completion of the CFA by the end of the training period is required).
- Previous equity research experience desirable, ideally on a global or international level.
- Buy-side experience a plus.
- Mathematical, analytical, logic based background an asset.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work in a team-oriented environment while actively contributing to team discussions.
- Strong passion for investing with a keen desire to learn, read broadly, and work hard.
