Junior Software Developer for World Renowned Oil & Gas Major based in London – £35,000
Working directly with Senior Project Management, this position with the IT Development Team will be frequently interacting with Trading Systems team members, BAs and Quantitative Analysts to ensure their work is consistent with business expectations and the trading systems roadmap.
The main responsibilities of the role are:
- Collect Business requirements/specifications and propose workable, scalable and sustainable designs for the software application to be developed
- Build applications according to agreed specifications and designs following coding standards, architectural design approaches and technology choices in place
- Design testing strategies to ensure software quality
- Coordinate with relevant users, business analysts and Business Application team the required user acceptance for validation of development
- Provide required documentation and assistance for the Live implementation and handover support to Business Application team, following the defined processes in place
- Ensure on-going maintenance and evolution of applications under the responsibility of the IT
- Development team including 3rd line support in case of failure and required changes in a timely manner
- Propose new approaches, technologies and concepts for review to improve development capabilities or team performance
The ideal candidate will have the following:
- Degree educated: Science/IT/Computing or equivalent
- Trained in / practical application of:
- Coding
- Databases
- Microsoft Excel, its API and programming environment including development of .NET
- Software design and development with exposure to Microsoft technologies and related tools; .Net, C#, WPF, Silverlight, WCF Services, SOA and MVVM architectures, MS Visual Studio, MS TFS, Oracle DB 9/10/11g, SQLServer, ASP.NET, Web technologies, OO Design, UML Modelling, Requirements Analysis
- Previous exposure to a range of software development technologies, tools and utilities.
- Any exposure to real-time capture of market data feeds would be highly beneficial.
- Knowledge of financial software and trading concepts ideally including physical and financial commodities (energy based), pricing strategies for commodities derivatives, forward price curves and trading positions
