Junior Software Engineer – Investment Bank – New York – Java / Algorithm development
Opportunity for a junior software engineer to join a revolutionary computerised trading team at a leading investment bank, based in the New York office.
The team is responsible for the research and development of novel algorithms that are used to automate the process of trading on electronic markets worldwide.
This is one of the most unique RD groups in the entire world of finance. The “traders” are all computer scientists and the majority of the team are alumni of companies like Google.
The successful candidate will work as part of a collaborative sub-team of researchers that combine complex mathematics, probability, data analysis and software in order to create profitable trading strategies. Specifically, your duties will involve helping to turn algorithms into production code; creating tools (Java) to analyse possible trading strategies; optimising software and algorithms; creation of new trading algorithms; mathematical and statistical analysis. It should however be noted that the scope of the work is technically unlimited and ambitious individuals can quickly progress to become traders and producing their own trading profits.
Technically, it is expected that you have a very high degree of skill in mathematical and/or computing problem solving, detailed knowledge of programming in either C++ or Java (the team use Java), some knowledge of statistics and algorithm design.
