Junior Systems Administrator recruitment
The role will primarily involve acting as first-line support for a foreign exchange trading arm and developing skills around Windows systems. The role also provides the opportunity to gain experience in a variety of technical areas ultimately leading to a senior systems administration position.
Ensure effective operation of all technical infrastructure and systems, with responsibility for:
- System builds and upgrades
- Maintenance and repair
- Monitoring performance and capacity planning
- Disaster recovery, business continuity and system backups
- Provision of procedures and mechanisms to effectively manage multiple systems
- Management of trading floor (physical installation and moves of equipment and desks)
- Providing all relevant cabling, power, rack and desks for operation of equipment
The role will require working directly with staff of all backgrounds and departments within the company.
Person Specification
Essential
- Solid understanding of basic computing and networking principles
- An enthusiasm to learn, and the ability to understand a wide-range of technologies
- The ability to work well within a team
- Good communication skills
Desirable
- Up to one year's experience of providing first-level desktop /or IT support
- Windows and Active Directory administration experience
- Cisco networking configuration experience
- Information systems (e.g. Bloomberg, Reuters, etc)
Travel - Mako has systems located throughout the world, including the UK, US, Germany and South Korea. All global infrastructure is managed from London, with travel occasionally required for setup of new systems and maintenance of existing systems.
Hours - Shift hours as required. Support is provided between 06.30 and 20.00 via three shifts. Due to the nature of the business, defined Bank Holiday work will also be required. Hours for work subject to change dependant on traded markets. Out-of-hours work is required for system maintenance (including occasional weekend work).
