Commercial Markets is actively searching for a Junior Territory Manager to join the West Division. This position will be accountable for real growth for the book of business including the breadth and depth of agent/broker management and development and alignment with underwriting within all segments of Commercial Markets. Under the direction of the Region Distribution Manager and working together with assigned underwriting team and senior territory managers, the Territory Manager is responsible for exploring new business opportunities by leveraging existing relationships and plans with small/remote agencies as well as providing competitor and regulatory information to market teams/management to ensure continued profitability, competitiveness, and product innovation. In addition, this role serves as a portal to Liberty Mutual products, markets, and services.
NOTE: The primary location for this position may be either Orange or Ontario, CA.
Responsibilities:
- In conjunction with key stakeholders, assists in the development of a strategic and operational plan for assigned territory. Seeks out innovative ways to achieve productive agent/broker plans. Gathers competitive intelligence, reviews regulatory/jurisdictional information and conducts analysis of assigned territory/universe to understand opportunity and potential for profitable growth. Plan incorporates strategies for specific agent/brokers within assigned territory. Continually monitors and adjusts plan accordingly and in conjunction with key stakeholders.
- Executes operational plan including responsibility for achieving operating metrics, activity pipeline management, managing new/renewal business processes, attending agent/broker calls, coordinating account management efforts in conjunction with key stakeholders and maintaining appropriate levels of internal/external communication with key stakeholders to find solutions and solve problems. Gathers account-specific competitive intelligence and develops value-added selling strategies in conjunction with underwriting. Effectively communicates LM Commercial Market value or service proposition to external stakeholders. Maintains accurate and timely information within all distribution management systems.
- Assists in the development and management of agency plans. Works with agencies to understand how Liberty Mutual can help them create successful and productive plans. Proactively works with agencies to educate, reinforce and promote Liberty Mutual products/services. Monitors agency segmentation by evaluating agency plan, pipeline and key metrics.
- Proactively manages internal and external relationships including developing meaningful relationships with agents/brokers, facilitating collaboration between internal groups, and articulating relationship status within the organization.
- Understands and promotes Liberty Mutual products and services to attract desired appetite of business mix. Responsible for Business and PSA planning and execution.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree and some direct experience in product distribution, agency management/direct agency experience or equivalent experience
- Good technical understanding of commercial insurance as well as a thorough understanding of marketing and underwriting and financial analysis capabilities
- Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships, decision-making and problem solving
- Demonstrated high degree of customer focus and interpersonal skills
- Highly effective oral and written communication skills, including presentation, and negotiation skills
- Ability to effectively manage agent/broker relationships telephonically
