Junior Trader – Global Macro Fund recruitment

• Ability to support / take instruction from the Portfolio Management Team

• Intuitive understanding of basic macroeconomics and probability

• Basic level of proficiency with technology, understanding of financial markets, and knowledge of instruments traded

• Ideally the ability to program in Visual Basic for Excel, C++ and Matlab

• Discernment, imagination and a sense of perspective when thinking about developments in economics, and financial markets

• A high degree of diligence and attention to detail when evaluating, entering, and managing trades and in all other responsibilities

• A focus on continual improvement, both in terms of personal development and as regards improving the processes of the group

• A high ethical standard and orientation towards meeting regulatory and corporate rules and regulations

• Willingness to accept advice and guidance from Portfolio Managers and other key people

• Continuously build and develop strong working relationships with colleagues and external parties   

Candidate Specification

The candidate will have at a minimum a strong undergraduate degree, and will also possess or be able to demonstrate the ability to acquire - the following qualities:-

 

• Outstanding intellectual ability

 

• Training in a quantitative subject such as economics, mathematics, physics, or statistics; candidates of exceptional ability with a training in economic history, classics, or similar less quantitative subjects will be considered if they show evidence of a facility with numbers, probability, and statistics and ideally programming skills.

 

• A tentative rather than a fixed attitude towards knowledge whilst at the same time having confidence in an opinion where it is justified.
 

• A high degree of intellectual curiosity, independence of thought, and general interest in world affairs, financial markets, and economics. It is more important to have a firm command of a particular area than a general veneer without depth.
