Junior/Mid-Level Information Security Engineer
JOB DESCRIPTION
The CEO of this hedge fund is almost paranoid about how to best protect their information security and IP - the chosen candidate will be given access to all levels of this cutting edge quant fund infrastructure and systems to play a key role in guarding trade and information secrets.
The role involves managing existing enterprise systems security solutions as well as responding to security alerts . It also involves daily security operations by responding to and following up any security alerts. This role will suit someone who has a real interest in systems security in general, and a demonstrable aptitude for applying computing concepts and their skills to solve real problems. Although, the candidate will specialise in systems, server, storage, systems audit and identity related security technologies, it is expected the candidate to get involved and learn the security technologies and business processes across the spectrum in order to gain a better understanding of information flow and providing end to end consistent security.
This is very much a hands-on technical role that involves securing a wide range of cutting-edge IT infrastructure technologies (including networks systems, servers, storage, and applications) and business processes providing an excellent learning experience for candidates wanting to widen their technical expertise and further their career into the field of Information Security.
Desired Skills Experience
- 2:1 Degree (preferably in Computer Science/Engineering/Information Systems related) from a top-30 UK University (DO NOT APPLY IF YOU DON’T HAVE THIS)
- A drive, energy and passion for the Information Security Space
- 1-2 years experience (Maximum 2.5 yrs) in an IT infrastructure/helpdesk role
- The daily operations aspect of the role involves liaising with users up to the executive level, so good interpersonal and communication skills are very important for this role.
Highly Advantageous
- Experience with Windows Server/Active Directory
- Experience with Network Security (Firewalls/IDS/IPS/Proxy/Routing/Switching)
- Scripting and Programming knowledge (especially Powershell, Perl and SQL)
- Security Technologies (Antivirus, DLP, SIEM, Identity management)
