Key Account Manager (m/f)
Job Purpose:
This position will be field-based and will be responsible for covering a territory consisting of Germany, Austria, Italy and Israel with a portfolio of accounts.
The Business Development department is responsible for identifying, negotiating, and securing revenues for Clinical Supply Supplies service offerings with new and existing customers, and for managing business relationships with current clinical supplies customers.
Key responsibilities:
· Identify, qualify, and pursue business opportunities within assigned territory and portfolio of accounts (current customers and prospects).
· Identify key account decision makers and influencers.
· Prepare well for calls/visits, anticipating and addressing barriers.
· Document and validate customer needs prior to presenting solutions.
· In cooperation with Clinical Supplies operations and the quotes teams, prepare and present to customers quotations to support their clinical development projects/clinical trials.
· Cooperate with management, the legal department and finance in the preparation and negotiation of Confidentiality, Master and other service related agreements.
· Manage the business relationships with assigned customers. Responsibilities include pricing, contract extensions/amendments, forecasting, periodic business review meetings, and other customer service related issues.
· Prioritize time on the right opportunities to maximize results.
· Understand the customer’s decision making processes and identify each key decision maker’s individual issues and personal wins.
· Set account objectives and establish a plan for achieving objectives.
· Cross-sell other Company service offerings to Clinical Supplies customers.
· Define alternative solutions of equal attractiveness to Company.
· Represent the Clinical service offering to select Company Global Account Teams.
· Participate in internal sales training efforts, internal process teams, trade show exhibits, and professional associations relevant to Clinical Supply and other Company service offerings.
· Present information about Company’s global Clinical Supply service offering knowledgeably and effectively reflecting the organization’s capability to support globally supply chain solutions that meet the clients needs.
· Interact effectively with technical and commercial outsourcing staff from customers and from the Company organization.
· Communicate in a compelling way that emphasizes the Company value proposition to the customer.
· Conduct discussions (internally and with customers) and analysis to identify opportunities for innovation.
· Evaluate overall sales results and trends for assigned portfolio of clinical accounts.
· Maintain effective communication with Company’s operations staff, project managers, and senior management to ensure that all account management activities are conducted in a coordinated, team-based fashion.
· Use both structured (e.g., CRM, forms, reporting mechanisms) and unstructured communication (e.g., e-mail, phone calls) to assure that there is a detail-oriented approach to account management with rapid response and follow through to customer inquiries, opportunities, and issues.
Requirements:
· A BS/BA degree is required in a scientific or business related discipline.
· A minimum of 3 years of pharmaceutical services sales experience is required.
· Proven track record with new account penetration is required.
· Proven ability to organize and plan work, manage travel, and balance multiple priorities effectively is required.
· Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills are required.
· Must have a good knowledge of German and English both oral and written.
· Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
· Ability to work effectively as a member of cross-functional teams is required.
· Must be willing and able to travel up to 60% to meet clients at their offices and in Germany, UK and USA.
