It is accountable for short term planning and for all financial and middle office control and reporting activities. IST Finance operates around 3 Global processes: Accounting Reporting, Trade Completion and Product Control and operates seamlessly with the Risk function to support the business.

Role synopsis:    

Manage and lead counterparty KYC team in a fast moving and dynamic energy commodity business, providing high quality, timely and optimised KYC /AML due diligence procedures including the monitoring of existing counterparties. The role is responsible for performance of initial review of new counterparty due diligence and regulatory classification, advising business on due diligence related issues. In addition, you will be required to provide assistance to a team of KYC analysts, and assisting supporting the business in meeting their KYC /AML regulatory obligations by reviewing client information and taking appropriate steps to ensure general compliance and escalating issues timely to the MLRO KYC Head.

The KYC team is responsible for ensuring accurate, timely and effective on boarding of new trading counterparties and also ensuring that records of existing trading counterparties are accurately maintained and efficiently. The KYC team is a key part of the Global Account Opening function within our Integrated Supply Trading (IST) strategic business unit.

Key accountabilities:

    

- Manage the day to day activities of the KYC Team within AOT and implement the AOT day to day operational plans for conducting counterparty due diligence.

- Develop, lead and motivate a well-trained and qualified KYC and service oriented team, providing high quality standard work and ensuring compliance with internal and external AML /KYC rules and regulations.

- Influences and initiates improvements to current AOT processes to continually provide effective and efficient AOT procedures consistently.

- Act as a senior AML /KYC technical advisor and provide effective support and guidance to AOT analysts.

- Assist in developing AML /KYC Programs and ensures that compliance with IST internal controls and AML /KYC regulatory requirements.

- Manage resources to ensure that objectives are met. Establish and implement short and long term goals for the team.

- Take responsibilities for special projects within AOT as may be required.

- Maintain effective interaction and communication with key business stakeholders.

- Provide regular and ad hoc management reports and KRIs within set standards.

 

Essential Education   

- Educated to degree level or equivalent.

Essential experience and job requirements    

- Excellent technical understanding of the KYC/AML rules and regulations and the practical applications in a commercial environment.

- Significant experience of working in a senior position within a service oriented business with strong KYC/AML focus and/or relationship management experience . This should ideally be within a financial services or commodities trading business and also include MiFID products. Exceptional people management and motivation skills.

- Role is focusing on EMEA and covers both the Oil Gas business

- Will be managing 5-8 direct reports (Analysts and Senior analysts, both Temp and Perm)

- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build partnership with the business, compliance, legal and other control functions.

- Diverse and strong experience in dealing with complex issues /problems and providing guidance to the team.

- Desirable criteria qualifications    

- Membership of a technical or professional AML /KYC body will be an added advantage.

- Excellent KYC/AML knowledge, experience and functional expertise.

- Good analytical, process and project management skills with an eye for details.

- Ability to manage, design and implement effective KYC processes, systems and policies.

- Superb people management and leadership skills. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

- Ability to influence through effective communications and collaboration with colleagues and customers.
