Lab Technician
JOB SUMMARY: Performs analysis for specialty gases and finished product testing in accordance to local work instructions and Airgas SOPs. Responsible for the safe and accurate analysis of product. Assists scheduling of all mixes to be analyzed, proper storage, labeling and shipping
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
* Performs routine production testing and quality control analysis of specialty gas mixtures and pure gases.
* Assists in Branch inspection/audit procedure and monthly inventories.
* Labels specialty mixes.
* Reviews production records and releases products for distribution.
* Audits filling records.
* Assists scheduling and fills specialty mixes for stock and shipment.
* Prepares gas analysis reports for customer distribution using PC based software.
* Coordinates with supervisor concerning delivery schedules, product complaints and special product requests.
* Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. * Associates degree in Chemistry or related Science and or combination of college level courses in Science, Math and/or 3-5 years experience in laboratory analysis in an industrial environment.
* Intermediate to expert level of experience with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel and Outlook).
* Ability to read and comprehend Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).
* Must be able to operate forklift and maintain forklift certifications.
* Hazmat Certified.
* Ability to work in 5 day a week schedule and shift work.
* Ability to work independently and under pressure to meet deadlines.

* Regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel or operate objects, tools or controls, and reach with hands and arms.
* Ability to perform work during prolonged standing (up to 8 hours). Frequent bending, stooping, crouching, reaching, pushing, pulling, and repetitive motion required.
* Ability to perform work during occasional climbing, balancing, kneeling and crawling.
* Ability to perform very heavy work - routinely lift 25 - 75 lbs., and occasionally lift 76 to greater than 100 lbs.
* Ability to push and pull containers weighing up to 800lbs with the aid of material handling equipment.
* Ability to talk to and hear customers/co-workers as well as smell/hear leaking gas from cylinders.
* Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
