Lab/Network Support Technician

GENERAL SUMMARY Maintain all software and hardware in the Education Services labs and classrooms worldwide. Assist the instructors with lab sessions as needed and provide assistance to instructors and developers when preparing equipment for future classes. This may entail installing or de-installing software or hardware as well as configuring, troubleshooting and maintaining network connectivity in all classrooms and labs. Possess extensive technical background with a minimum of 5 years experience with EMC products and services or related environment. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Install, troubleshoot, and repair PC/Host related problems, including all variations of Unix, Linux and Windows software. Install, troubleshoot and maintain all EMC Hardware and Software platforms. Modify and install all classroom and lab equipment. Assist Instructors and Course Developers with resetting, testing and functionality of all lab equipment mentioned above in preparation for each class. Assist all Training staff with equipment relocation and configuration/re-configuration. Consult with Instructors and Developers to suggest ways to improve course infrastructure. Verify that Distance Learning Kits are up-to-date and functioning properly by re-imaging all laptops with standard Education Services image, inventory all kit components and replenish as necessary, test and repair any defective components, and prepare for shipment each week. Act as point of contact for all classroom PCs or network related issues 7 x 24. Orders classroom materials/documentation as required. Attends meetings as required, including weekly Readiness Review Meeting, Development TVT's, etc. Performs other duties as required. Advanced Technical Skills. Interpersonal Skills. The following certifications are also preferred: EMC Proven Professional - Associate Level, Microsoft Certified, Systems Engineer (MCSE) and CCNA and CCNP Cisco Certifications.
