General Overview The Sample Processing Laboratory (SPL) is a central facility for the processing and short-term storage of research samples collected from patients enrolled in clinical trials undertaken by the MGH Cancer Center. Major responsibilities of the position are as follows: ? Transport samples from outpatient/inpatient clinics to the SPL. ? Process study samples according to specific written procedures. ? Oversee the storage of samples according to established procedures. ? Package samples for external shipment by courier services. ? Transport samples between MGH and other DF/HCC institutions via the MGH shuttle. ? Communicate with off-site centers regarding sample shipment and tracking. ? Maintain electronic and/or written records of sample disposition. ? Perform routine maintenance procedures for instrumentation. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are required as the position involves a high level of interaction with staff in the Cancer Center's Clinical Research Unit, their counterparts at other Dana Farber/Harvard Cancer Center institutions, and pharmaceutical companies. The ability to accommodate a flexible work schedule is necessary as working hours will frequently include evenings and weekends.
