Laboratory Technician

Title: Laboratory Technician (12 month fixed term contract) Department: Blend Test Services
Salary: circa £18,000 per annum, depending on skills and experience. Purpose: Conduct testing and development projects in accordance with good working practices and within agreed time limits. Key Accountabilities:
- Organise and prioritise the necessary internal laboratory work to support customer needs.
- Reports data in line with procedure.
- Addresses problems from customers, processes or procedures: causes not obvious.
- Performs a wide range of procedures, trouble-shoots equipment or instruments, understand underlying operating principles, seeks to reduce variability.
- Maintains equipment and supplies.
- Operate in line with health and safety practices within the laboratory.
- Educated to ‘A’ level standard or equivalent in a scientific field or, equivalent work experience in a scientific environment.
- Uses and understands concepts of PC databases; uses spreadsheets, graphics and word processing software.
- Understands basic control chart concepts.
- Experience of dealing with customer enquiries and providing them with relevant information.
- Has the ability to perform tasks and communicate results on well defined projects with narrow scopes.
- Handles multiple projects simultaneously.
