Laboratory Technician

Job Description        

Technician is responsible for the setup, performance, and cleanup of a variety of tests within areas of responsibility where basic knowledge of the underlying scientific and engineering fundamentals is required.  Provide feedback regarding tests and performs other duties as directed.

Operate designated instruments that includes load cell, dial indicator, calipers, micrometer, gas delivery system, pH meter, Instron tensile tester, and specialized laboratory equipment.  Performs chemistry related tasks such as solution preparation and titration.  Test setup, maintenance, and equipment cleaning. 

Requirements

Two years of college or technical school preferred.  Knowledge of scientific and physical material properties attained through academic courses and/or work experience. 

Sample machining experience (mill, shear, crusher, etc.).  Able to read technical drawings and use measuring devices such as calipers, dial indicators, and micrometers.  Experience in materials testing preferably with steel.

Problem solving, time management, quality and detail oriented.  Must be able to carry 40 lbs upstairs (60-80 lbs occasionally).  The ability to stand for long periods of time.
