- Reporting of results or conclusions internally or externally as required.
- Definition of testing requirements, standards and protocols to meet requirements.
- In some cases define new testing methods or protocols for new products.
- Interpretation of a variety of customer specifications.
- Stay current with new material and process opportunities
- Brainstorm improved products and processes.
- Develop IP to gain a competitive edge.
- Support technical issues in existing products and processes
Job Requirements:
- A minimum of a 4 year engineering degree.
- Understand the Automotive glass lamination process intimately with a minimum of 8 years lamination experience.
- CAD drawing skills are a plus
- Understand basic trouble shooting, defect analysis and problem solving tools.
- Must be able to work in a team environment at multiple manufacturing sites with engineering, management and hourly personnel.
- Position will require the ability to train, guide and lead plant engineering and technical personnel to improve production yield and new product launches.
- Responsible to make recommendations for new equipment and continuous improvements to equipment and lamination processes.
- Understanding of glass washing techniques, operations and glass cleanliness requirements beneficial.
- Pre press oven controls and press roll theory is a must.
- Knowledge of various lamination process types beyond press rolls.
- Flat and curved lamination process experience
- Autoclave process knowledge.
- A basic understanding of FMVSS and how they apply to Automotive glass manufacturing
- Understand lamination testing (Penetration resistance Pummel) and what it tells you about the process
- Knowledge of the chemistry of the PVB to glass bond, durability, etc…
- Experience with HUD and acoustic PVB’s
