LAN Administrator / Network Admin Job in Queens 11101, New York Us

Our NYC Government Agency client in Long Island City, NY is seeking Windows Local Area Network (LAN) Administrators for a 20-month contract. Experience in Systems backup, setting up, installing, configuring, supporting, optimizing, and monitoring of the divisions networks. Under the supervision of the MIS Manager, the LAN administrators will assist in the management of the Network Operations Center to oversee the daily operation and maintenance of internal IT networks to ensure high availability

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college in a computer science or related computer field or engineering field and minimum four years of full-time, satisfactory experience as a Windows LAN administrator with hands on experience in planning, developing, installing, configuring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing server and network hardware, software and communication links; or
2. A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a State's department of education or recognized accrediting organization and minimum six years of experience as described in "1" above; or
3. A satisfactory combination of education and experience equivalent to "1", or "2" above.

QUALIFICATIONS DESIRED:
1. A Bachelors degree in a computer science or related computer or engineering field
2. Minimum of four years experience in the planning, developing, installing, configuring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing of servers and network hardware, software and communication links;
3. Proficiency in writing and speaking the English language
4. Relevant certification(s).

Skills desired:
-Experience in Windows 2000, 2003, 2008 and network operating systems.
-Experience in Active Directory, domain administration and the primary network services. (DNS, WINS, DHCP, GPOs, WSUS, DFS, AV, etc.)
-Implement and support network disk and tape backup and disaster recovery.
-Administer a network of up to thirty five hundred (3,500) workstations or assists in administration of a large site or network, utilizing one or more TCP/IP protocols.
-Provide technical consulting services to department/organization regarding use of computers and networks to satisfy business needs.
-Install, configure, and maintain personal computers, Windows networks, file servers, Ethernet networks, network cabling, and other related equipment, devices, and systems; adds or upgrades and configures modems, disk drives, data acquisition boards, CD ROM units, printers, and related equipment.
-Perform and/or oversee software installation, and network operating system upgrades; maintain site licenses for department/organization.
-Plan and implement network security, including building firewalls, applying cryptography to network applications, managing host security, file permissions, and file system integrity, and adding and deleting users.
-Troubleshoot networks, systems, and applications to identify and correct malfunctions and other operational difficulties.
-Knowledge of virtualization technology installation, planning, maintenance
-Knowledge of network architecture/ design (VLANs)
-Knowledge of installing/using NAS storage (SCSI, SAN, FIBER)
-May lead and/or guide the work of other staff engaged in similar functions.
-Maintain knowledge with respect to relevant state-of-the-art technology, equipment, and/or systems.
