Language Teachers – Japan

Interac, Japan's largest private provider of Assistant Language Teachers (ALTs), is seeking applications from Australia and New Zealand for ALTs to start 1-year contracts from late-March 2012.

ALTs are more than language teachers. They are the face of the global community and help and support young Japanese learners to broaden their horizons and develop international understanding.

Interac ALTs teach mainly in primary, middle (junior high) and high schools throughout Japan.

Education and qualifications

1. Must hold (or be about to graduate with) a bachelor's degree (or higher) in any subject.

2. Must be a native speaker of English who has had at least 12 years of formal education delivered in English.

3. Teaching experience or qualifications is desirable but not essential.

Training

Interac provides a comprehensive initial and ongoing training and support program for all ALTs. This will give you everything you need to be a great ALT in Japan. This training and support is not only limited to your job - but includes living and life in Japan.

Living

We have a network of bilingual support staff around the country who are there to assist you with any day-to-day issues. Interac assists you in arranging accommodation in Japan. If your position requires a car - we'll help you with that too.

Money

All ALTs start off with a salary of between 230,000 and 255,000 Japanese yen (AU$2,800 to AU$3,150) per calendar month (based on location and position)

Visa

Interac will arrange and sponsor the appropriate work visa for all successful applicants.
