Job Summary:
Builds and tests complex opto-mechanical and electromechanical equipment according to documented procedures by performing the following duties

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

* Reviews procedures and assembly drawings to ascertain test specifications, objectives, test equipment and methods.

* Routinely assembles and test complex optical, electrical, and mechanical sub systems and modules. Troubleshoots to the component level. Aligns, characterizes and adjusts infrared laser sources.

* Assists in problem identification at the integrated system level using knowledge of sub-system operational characteristics.

* Sets up and conducts tests of complete units and components under operational conditions to investigate design proposals for improving equipment performance or other factors, or to obtain data for development, standardization, and quality control.

* Analyzes indicated and calculated test results in relation to design or rated specifications and test objectives, and modifies or adjusts equipment to meet specifications.

* Records test procedures and results, numerical and graphical data, and recommendations for changes in product or test method.

* Assists manufacturing engineering in establishing or modifying assembly and test techniques, equipment design, and shop floor layout.

Education and Job Requirements:
Associate's degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school in Optics/Electronics/Precision Mechanics and three to five years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of spreadsheet software, and word processing software.
