Job Description Project Engineer Water Resources/Stormwater AECOM is seeking candidates for the position of Stormwater and Water Resources Project Engineer to work in the metro Washington, D.C. area. We have offices in Washington, D.C., Laurel, MD and Arlington, VA. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting our municipal and federal clients on a variety of water resources projects. The successful candidate will have relevant experience in one or more of the following areas: stormwater quality planning and design; non-point source pollution assessment; NPDES/MS4 permit compliance, floodplain/wetland delineation and permitting; stream condition evaluation and restoration. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating technical aspects of small to mid-size tasks and projects and assisting or leading business development pursuits, with opportunity for growth into larger local project and program management activities. In addition, the successful candidate will perform water resources-related planning, engineering, regulatory assistance, design or construction inspection work. The candidate will be technically involved in the analysis and resolution of water resources related issues that may include overseeing AECOM and subcontractor project teams involved in investigation or inspections and detailed engineering work. Duties may include technical execution or oversight of: * Hydrologic, hydraulic and pollutant load analyses and modeling * Total maximum daily loads (TMDL) and waste load allocation (WLA) compliance services * Environmental site design/Low Impact Development * Capital improvement planning for stormwater rehabilitation, maintenance and retrofit projects * Storm drain and stormwater management facility asset inventory, inspection and rating * Illicit discharge outfall screening, sampling, detection and source tracking * Floodplain and wetland field delineation studies and Maryland/USACE permit applications * Forest stand delineation studies and forest conservation plans * Endangered species surveys and other habitat evaluations * Stream assessments such as RSAT, Rosgen, Pfankuch evaluations * Water quality and biological evaluations * Watershed improvement evaluation and design * Construction inspection for stream restoration projects * Oversight of GIS database management or computer-assisted design personnel * Technical reports, guidelines, standards and procedures * Stormwater ordinances, policies, and rate structures * Development of work plans (scope, schedule, and budget) and supervision of other team members. Qualifications: Eight or more years of relevant experience in the municipal or federal water resources industry, including at least two years of task or project management experience. Strong written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated ability to conduct effective client presentations and written report preparation Experience coordinating the work of other water resources professionals Bachelor of Science degree in Civil, Water Resources or Environmental Engineering, or equivalent Demonstrated project execution experience and training, proposal and business development experience, and professional certifications are desired What We Offer AECOM employees around the world enjoy a wide range of benefits and competitive compensation package.
