Job Title: Relationship Manager
Reporting To:  Head of Relationship Management
Department:  Relationship Management
Location:  Canary Wharf

Purpose of Role:
The position focuses primarily on the management of existing client accounts to establish strong relationships. 
This involves working closely with the Client Service Officers (CSO) team to ensure that items of work are appropriately delegated and overseeing the completion of tasks to ensure that high standards of service are delivered in order to protect current revenues.

Other key aspects of the role include:-
- Identifying, developing and executing cross-sell opportunities
- Identifying and defending against threats to current business
- Working collaboratively with other internal departments including CSOs, sales, consultant relations and marketing inter alia, in order to drive the UK business forward
- Taking ownership for relevant ad hoc projects that aim to contribute to the success of the UK LDI business

Major Responsibilities:
Take ownership and responsibility for specific client accounts which involves amongst other things:-
Leading client reviews e.g. trustee meetings and new business presentations
Overseeing client events (installations, divestments, mandate changes etc) ensuring tasks are delegated where appropriate to CSOs
Dealing efficiently with day to day client queries (delegating where appropriate to the relevant areas within SSgA including CSOs in order to co-ordinate a response)
Overseeing maintenance of clients’ Onyx records with appropriate delegation of tasks to the CSO team
Operate in accordance with the RM Manual (being cognisant of and adhering to required levels of activity defined for each client tier therein or as set out and agreed as part of PPR Goals) and contribute to the updating of this document as required to ensure it remains relevant and current
Where appropriate, engage pro-actively with allocated clients and consultants in a consultative manner in order to:-
Build an understanding of client’s current strategy and planned changes thus identifying opportunities and threats
Properly document the threats and opportunities and create and document strategic plan to convert opportunities and defend against threats
Pro-actively feed relevant information gained from client engagement to Head of Team, Sales and Marketing to enable SSgA to adapt to market feedback using format agreed with Head of Team (e.g. Business Plan, Strategic Plans, Other Onyx notes/records etc)
Work within Buddy Group and with CSO colleagues to ensure delivery of a high level of service to clients at all times, especially during periods of absence for whatever reason
Where relevant, assume Asset Class Champion responsibilities to include:-
o Co-ordinate information between Product Engineers (PEs) and the RM team
o Pro-actively seek information for the team on relevant topical product issues as and when they arise
o Work with product engineers to develop USPs for products related to asset class
o Work with PEs to find ways to keep RM team abreast of performance numbers for key strategies and seek explanations for performance numbers to share with team so that the RM team is equipped to message relevant information to our clients
o Own and evolve role to meet changing needs of team
Where required work with Head of RM Team and our sales and consultant relations colleagues to develop strategies for driving the UK business forward:-
o Take ownership for identified and allocated market segments
o Pro-actively implement agreed strategies in collaboration with sales and consultant relations
o Own and evolve strategies to meet changing needs of the business 
Identify, own and contribute to relevant ad hoc project work as dictated by current and changing business needs and any other relevant project work determined from time to time by Head of Team
Where relevant, work with other internal departments to ensure overall service delivery to clients, taking the lead as necessary to ensure that this happens
Where relevant, manage allocated staff to ensure that team objectives are met, staff members are clear on goals and objectives and act as role model for allocated staff including CSO colleagues

Education Experience:
Relationship management experience or fund management experience with an in-depth knowledge of the UK institutional asset management industry, in either the asset owner or asset gatherer space
Preferably from another investment manager or consultant organisation
Extensive experience of the investment, pension fund, LDI and/ or financial sector
Experience within ETF would also be beneficial
Able to demonstrate success in previous similar roles
Existing network within the UK institutional market
Graduate level or equivalent with professional investment qualifications (minimum of IMC)

Specific Technical Knowledge/Qualifications:
FSA registration will be required
