LEAD ACCOUNTANT recruitment

Major Responsibilities:
 
Prepare in-depth analysis of financial data to management for reporting and or regulatory/policy changes.  Independently research and analyze regulatory pronouncements and other accounting documents. Present analysis and recommendations to management.
 
Participate in the development and implementation of accounting changes.  May coordinate the dissemination of information or procedures.
 
Provide professional technical guidance to Management with regard to interpretation and analysis of financial programs, regulatory or policy changes.  Maintain knowledge of ongoing external trends in the financial area.
 
Work directly with divisional managers in major financial projects. Establish close working relations with divisional managers.
 
Review and analyze financial publication and regulatory requirements to stay abreast of changes.
 
Prepare FOCUS report for FINRA monthly. Responsible for all General Ledger Accounts as required by FINRA.
 
Assists with the preparation of financial statements and ensures accuracy.   Conduct investigations of errors independently.  Recommend procedural changes to address problems. Assist with monthly closing.
 
Provide on-going advice on accounting issues to all levels and areas of the Bank.
 
Develop and recommend accounting system and procedure changes.
 
Works with internal and external auditors and regulators. Provides data on accounting related matters to all auditors and examiners within UB to ensure that accounting issues are properly addressed in audits.
 
Respond to internal/external inquiries regarding financial data reported or filed.
 
Provide lead guidance to other Technical Accountant staff members.

Additional Information:

This position requires an Accounting degree from a four-year college (e.g., B.A., B.S.) AND 6 to 10 years of technical experience OR equivalent  comparable experience to gain the knowledge to perform the functions of this job. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
