Full Job Description
My client is a rapidly expanding and dynamic financial technology firm, with aggressive growth plans for 2012. With increased client demand and a focus on building a number of systems completely from scratch, the firm is looking to design and build an innovative data cloud, a cutting edge single layer analytics platform, which will solve all big data problems and allow access to the content at extremely high speeds. The team focuses on cutting edge techniques, with a particular focus on distributed and parallel computing. The team has outlined its design and plans for this innovative system and is now seeking a senior architect-developer to take a key, hands on role. You will work alongside a number of very experienced and well respected technologists and design the high availability, low latency data cloud using a range of technologies including C++, C# and java. You will be heavily involved in every aspect of the SDLC, from design through to delivery and support. As well as amazing technical skill, the team is seeking a high caliber candidate with a real passion for innovative technology, an interest in `big data? and a desire to work in a collaborative, dynamic and challenging environment. The team has recently began its search and is seeking to begin speaking to candidates asap.
Ideal Skill Set for Lead Big Data - Cloud Computing C++-C# Architect - High Availability-Low Latency Platform
• C++ - C# - Java - Deep expertise in at least one of these languages
• Strong design-architecture skills
• Linux-Unix
• Experience designing-developing distributed-low latency-parallel computer systems
• Prior experience of cloud computing and big data will be huge plus
• Amazing communication skills
• Prior finance-data experience would be a plus
Key Responsibilities for Lead Big Data - Cloud Computing C++-C# Architect - High Availability-Low Latency Platform
• Take a lead in the design-development of a Green-Field Single Layer Analytics Platform
• Strive to achieve lowest latency
• All aspects of SDLC
• Work closely alongside senior technologists-management in New York
• Constantly innovate and introduce new ideas-techniques to the team (cloud computing, open source etc)
• Work closely with internal and external business users
This is a great opportunity to join a very exciting and dynamic firm, well recognized as being at the forefront of financial technology. The firm is currently in the process of designing a huge host of systems-platforms completely from scratch, therefore this is best suited to strong senior technologists with a real eye on design and architecture. You will have a huge influence on the team and be expected to contribute to every technical decision. Whilst the team is largely using C++, C# and Java, the firm is also seeking those who have an interest in other languages and methodologies.
